This extensive research has shown that most people involved in the study consumed large amounts of saturated fats and suffered from heart disease. However, later analysis of Keys` research has concluded that “what best correlated with heart disease was not saturated fat intake but sugar.” So, although saturated fats have been assumed to lead to heart disease by increasing cholesterol levels, there isn’t any experimental evidence to directly link them to heart disease. Unfortunately, Key`s claims led to a multi-generational notion that saturated fats, like those in butter, are bad for us and that we should avoid them at all cost.
While the Dietary Guidelines for Americans has undergone certain good changes, there are still myths regarding the intake of saturated fats. Now, thanks to the recently published studies, many people have become aware of the benefits that saturated fats have to offer:

According to a massive study involving 15-country-specific cohorts, butter has little or no association with cardiovascular disease, mortality, and diabetes. Any minor side effects only shows that you need to watch your butter intake.

As for the manufacturing process, it was created through a hydrogenation, which creates trans fats. A study at the British Medical Journal discovered that trans-saturated fats are linked to total coronary heart disease, coronary disease mortality, and all-cause mortality.
