Shoe blisters are a common problem, and they usually occur in the warmer months of the year. Unpleasant and painful bubbles occur as a result of rubbing and irritation of the upper skin layer.
Most of these blisters are usually full of clear fluid, but they can also be red if they are full of blood, or yellowish if they are filled with pus, indicating an infection.
If you have this common foot problem, the following home remedies will help you get rid of them easy:
Aloe Vera is a great choice for fighting blisters. This plant contains lots of ingredients that has anti-inflammatory properties, so it eases the redness and the inflammation. Furthermore, the aloe vera contains high amount of water and it enables hydration of the affected area, by which the process of healing is faster, especially if the blister is already popped.
Just put fresh aloe vera gel on the blister and let it dry. Then, rinse with lukewarm water. Another option is to combine the aloe vera gel with a little vitamin E oil.
Green tea or black tea
Both green and black tea have strong anti-inflammatory properties, yet the green tea has a more intense properties. This is way, if you can choose, have a green tea. Put one bag of green tea in 250ml hot water and let it stay for 5 minutes. Then, put the tea to a room temperature while it cools down. Now, put a peace of cotton inside and place it on the blister for 15 to 30 minutes. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times per day.
Vitamin E stimulates the process of healing and prevents scars from appearing. Take one capsule of Vitamin E and place the oil from the capsule on the blister. Let it stay for at least 30 minutes. Repeat the procedures every day.
Because of the ingredients it contains, as well as baking soda and menthol, the toothpaste can help in the prevention of painful blisters. So, add a little toothpaste on the affected area and let it stay for around 2 hours. Then, rinse with lukewarm water and put some foot cream. Repeat the procedure 1 to 2 times a day, until the blister disappears. This way you enable disappearance of blisters faster, and the pain and itchiness will disappear as well.
NOTE: Do not put whitening tooth paste on your blisters!
Thanks to the ingredients that chamomile tea contains, you can enable reduction of the blister’s pain and swell. Make a strong chamomile tea ( in 250 ml of water and put 2 bags of tea), and leave it to a room temperature to cool down. Take a peace of cotton and put it in the chamomile tea. Place the cotton on the blister and let it stay for 10 minutes. Repeat the procedure a few times per day.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar has an antibacterial effect, so, if the blister pops, the vinegar can prevent an infection. Still, we have to warn you, that putting apple cider vinegar on the blister can cause redness and itchiness at the start. That’s why, if you decide for this natural remedy, put a small amount of apple cider vinegar and gently apply on the affected area.
Turmeric is considered as a natural antiseptic, so it can significantly help in reducing the pain and inflammation, and prevention of getting an infection. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric with a little water, just so that you get a nice paste. Put this mix on the blister, let it stay for 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times a day until the blister disappears.
You must not pop the blister ! Yet, if it causes you an unpleasant pain, follow the instructions:
- Wash your hands thoroughly;
- Take a clean and unused medicine needle
- Coat it with alcohol;
- Sting the blister on the side and let the fluid come out;
- Wash the area with water and a soap;
- Put antibiotic and protect the area with a gauze, or a plaster.
- Change the plaster every day.
NOTE: Don’t remove the upper part of the blister, unless it is extremely dirty or the fluid that came out is full of pus.
