Corn originates from North America, but today its varieties yield numerous products, which are highly valued all around the world. Starting from French fries up to chicken nuggets, almost everything contains corn. In fact, most of the foods that people unknowingly pick from the grocery store shelf contain corn, and there are included sodas (including diet ones), pudding, ketchup, salad dressing, fruit juices, yogurt, baked cookies, mayonnaise, peanut butter and sometimes even milk are just a few.
But experts warn that this insane consummation of corn has devastating effect on human health. Namely, studies have proved that corn has the worst Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio out of all grains. The omega 3 fatty acids are responsible for hormones that are anti-inflammatory while the omega 6 fatty acids are in charge for producing hormones that support inflammation. If the amount of omega 6 supersedes the amount of omega 3, human body starts losing control over the inflammatory response and that may result in various health issues, and the most common are immune disease, cancer, asthma, diabetes, increased cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and even depression.
Here is why you should never eat corn again:
- Corn is a grain
Laboratory tests have proved that it contains the most sugars and starch and its nutritional value is almost zero. It is important to mention that it is the first plant which was genetically modified and even today continues to be enhanced by humans, and that actually makes it completely unhealthy and bad for your health.
- Autoimmune disease
Although corn doesn’t contain gluten, human body confuses the protein contained in corn with gluten and the immune system gets confused. This actually disrupts the gut lining and wreaks complete havoc in the digestive system. Moreover, corn has particularly high glycemic index which contributes to inflammation and that very easily can be converted to sugar, hampering the body’s insulin response.
- Corn cannot be digested
Corn contains fiber cellulose, and that is the reason why human body cannot digest corn easily. Namely, as doctors explain, human digestive system cannot completely break down cellulose as it lacks the enzyme to do so, which furthermore leads to troubles to fully digest corn. Same as all grains, corn contains prolamins, a class of proteins that human body can’t properly break down, and that leads to such conditions as leaky gut.
- Corn contains lectins
Studies have proved that corn contains class (A) proteins such as lectins which are broken into amino acids in order to be digested by the body. Unfortunately, human body cannot break lectins, therefore it cannot fully digest this grain. This causes irritation of the gut and causes inflammation.
A study conducted in Canada, has showed that most of the corn contains BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) insecticide, but also contains other harmful poisons and is not organic in nature. Namely, this study was conducted in 2011 and discovered that the BT toxin gets accumulated in human blood and easily may disrupt organ functionality to an extent which actually may cause long-term health illnesses.
According to the study published in the International Journal of Biological Sciences, effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health were analyzed and it was discovered that about 85% of corn in America is genetically modified. It is even more surprising that researchers during that study discovered that agricultural giant Monsanto’s GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats.
