Since the surprising EU referendum results, people in the UK have been shocked seriously. Their decision was unexpected and many people fee that it sends out the wrong message to immigrants in the country.
Some people think that this move will tell people they are not welcome in the country at all.
This all started on Twitter when the user named @cheeahs wrote: “I’d like to come up with something that can be made by anybody anywhere to pin on their jacket or coat to signify they are an allay. A safe person to sit next to on a bus, walk next to on a street, even have a conversation with. I quite like the idea of just putting a safety pin, empty of anything else, on your coat. A literal SAFETY pin!” Thus the idea was born and it caught on very quickly.
Lots of people started uploading pictures of themselves with a safety pin to their clothes since then. The idea to show solidarity is very sweet, but it is sad to think that we need this. Since the last week’s results of the vote, non-British people feel scared in the country.
The referendum cause a lot of controversy and many people have called out those who voted to ‘leave’ the EU as being racist. Once the results were confirmed, there has been a lot of speculation on social media about what is happening next for the nation.
