Artificial sweeteners have no energy value, but provide intense taste of sweetness. Therefore they can be found in many products. Their usage can positively affect those on a diet, as well as persons who suffer from diabetes. But the use of certain sweeteners as E951, can damage your health.
MSG or E621
It is flavor enhancing agent which is mostly used in the industry for producing instant soups and meat products. Although it is used for more than 10 years in the food industry, it is not proven to have a detrimental impact on health, yet there are signs that can cause symptoms such as headache and nausea.
Nitrites and nitrates
Nitrites and nitrates are preservatives that are mostly used in the production of meat products, cheese and certain fish products. They often prevent the normal oxygen delivery in the blood, so that is why you should avoid all products that contain nitrites and nitrates, and they are particularly dangerous for children.
They are produced by partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils. These are fatty acids that negatively affect the health because they raise bad cholesterol levels which lead to different types of heart disease.
E102 and E123a
The use of different artificial colors such as E102 and E123a in certain countries is completely banned because they can create different types of health problems. If you can, always select products that contain natural colors, such as pepper extract (E160c) and turmeric (E100).
