Overweight does not necessarily equal unhealthy. In fact, there are some overweight people who are in excellent health, while many normal weight people have the metabolic problems associated with obesity.
That is because the fat under the skin is not that big problem. However, it is best for us to determine whether our body weight is healthy or not. We can do this with body mass index, but unfortunately it is not completely reliable way.
According to the latest research, one third of those who have risk to get a disease caused by obesity are considered healthy according to the calculations of body mass index. So how are we supposed to determine whether the weight is healthy or not?
We suggest you to see the difference between your height and waist, instead of taking in considereation the body mass index and scale.
This is a very simple test that will not take you more than 30 seconds of your time. All you need is a single rope or tailor metro if you have it in your home.If you are using a rope, cut a piece of it with the same lenght as your height, or measure your height with tailor metro. Fold the rope in half, put it around your waist and try to tie the rope. If you can do this, you should not panic because you are a person with a healthy body weight. On the other hand, if the ends of the rope barely touch or don’t touch at all, it means you should be a little concerned and start dieting.
